What I learned

What I did

A client had floor plans for a covered horse arena, exported as a PDF from something like AutoCAD. I uploaded the PDF to ChatGPT and had it create a 3D rendering of the arena. Then I gave it a real photo of the building site, and it superimposed the rendering onto the photo, with very little prompting.

How it turned out

For a first pass, it was pretty accurate. There were a couple of artifacts that didn’t match the real design, but the client was very impressed. Seeing the building on their own land made the project feel real in a way the floor plans never could.

What I learned

You don’t need an architect’s rendering software to show a client what something will look like. A PDF and a phone photo can get you a convincing first pass in minutes, as long as you treat it as a concept, not a construction drawing.
